पुजा करने से बुद्धि और ज्ञान का वरदान मिलता है। देवी को वेदमाता शारदा ब्रह्माचारिणी जगन्माता आदि नामों से भी जाना जाता है जो लोग मां सरस्वती की पूजा विधि अनुसार करते हैं उन्हें कभी न समाप्त होने वाले ज्ञान की प्राप्ति होती है।

विद्यारम्भं करिष्यामि सिद्धिर्भवतु में सदा॥ ' हे सबकी कामना पूर्ण करने वाली माता सरस्वती, आपको नमस्कार करता हूँ। मैं अपनी विद्या ग्रहण करना आरम्भ कर रहा हूँ , मुझे इस कार्य में सिद्धि मिले। या देवी सर्वभूतेषु विद्यारूपेण संस्थिता नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥

मंदिर की सफाई करने के बाद गंगाजल से पूरे घर में छिड़काव करें और सभी चीजों को शुद्ध कर लें. सरस्वती माता को प्रसन्न करने के लिए विधि-विधान से पूजा करें और व्रत का संकल्प लें. पूजन के बाद देवी मां को पीले चावल का भोग लगाएं और अपना व्रत शुरू करें. इसके बाद मुहूर्त के अनुसार ही विधि-विधान से अपने व्रत का पारण करें,

हिंदू धर्मग्रंथों के अनुसार सुबह 3 बजे के बाद का समय ब्रह्म मुहूर्त कहलाता है। माना जाता है कि सुबह 3 बजे से 3.15 बजे तक का समय सबसे अच्छा होता है। कहा जाता है कि अगर आप इस समय कोई कामना करते हैं तो वह इच्छा जल्द ही पूरी होती है। वहीं, सुबह 3.20 से 3.40 बजे के बीच मां सरस्वती जिह्वा पर विराजमान होती हैं,
